Prof. Dr. Farhan Saif Honored with Sitara-e-Imtiaz
The President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi confers the civil award of Sitara-i-Imtiaz upon Dr. Farhan Saif. The ceremony was held at the Aiwan-e-Sadar, Islamabad, on March 23, 2021, where distinguished personalities received the civil awards for their contributions in different fields. Dr. Farhan Saif, a tenured professor at the department of Electronics, received his MSc in Physics (QAU) in 1991, MPhil in Electronics (QAU) in 1993 and PhD in Quantum Electronics from Ulm University, Ulm, Germany in 1998. He has remarkable contributions in the fields of quantum optics, opto-electronics, cold atoms, Bose-Einstein condensation, quantum computation and quantum chaos. He has invented the Recurrence tracking microscope, atomic bullets, atomic clocks based on reflected atoms and optical switches using nano-electro-opto mechanics. Dr. Saif has pioneering work in quantum recurrences, no-dispersive accelerated atoms, quantum lithography, sensors and nano-devices. He has been awarded Pride of Performance, Abdus Salam Prize, The World Academy of Sciences award and Fulbright fellowship.
