Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad, through its School of Sociology, signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the National Commission on the Rights of the Child (NCRC) to promote research, capacity building, policy development, and awareness initiatives aimed at strengthening the protection and promotion of children’s rights in Pakistan.

The Letter of Intent was signed by Mr. Khalid Latif, Secretary, National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC), and Dr. Sadia Saeed, Chairperson, School of Sociology, Quaid-i-Azam University. The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Vice Chancellor, Quaid-i-Azam University, Dr. Salama Malik, Director, External Linkages, and senior faculty member of the School of Sociology.

Under the Letter of Intent, the two institutions will collaborate on research addressing emerging child protection issues, including child rights, protection in digital spaces, education, mental well-being, constitutional safeguards, and climate-induced displacement. The partnership also seeks to generate evidence-based knowledge to inform policy formulation and decision-making.

In addition, both institutions will contribute academic expertise toward the development, review, and assessment of policies, research studies, strategic documents, and institutional assessments. The partnership will also promote public awareness and social responsibility through outreach activities, community education initiatives, and multi-stakeholder collaborations that advance the rights, protection, and well-being of children across Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Vice Chancellor, Quaid-i-Azam University, appreciated the efforts of the School of Sociology in establishing this important collaboration and thanked the National Commission on the Rights of the Child for partnering with the University. He expressed confidence that the initiative would strengthen research, policy dialogue, and community engagement for the promotion and protection of children’s rights in Pakistan.

The National Commission on the Rights of the Child (NCRC) is a statutory body established by the Government of Pakistan to promote, protect, and fulfill the rights of children through monitoring, advocacy, research, and policy support in line with national and international commitments.
