Quaid-i-Azam University inks MOU with PCSIR

The Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad signed a Momurandum of Understanding (MOU) with Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR), here on Tuesday with an aim to enhance research and academia linkage.

The purpose of the joint effort was also to help the industry in achieving its maximum potential and increase knowledge-base for international competitiveness.

QAU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and Chairman PCSIR, Dr. Shoukat Parvez, signed the MOU on behalf of their respective organizations.

Under the MOU, PCSIR will provide access to the students of QAU in their laboratories to carry out applied research under the supervision of scientists of PCSIR. According to the MOU the development of joint research projects by the QAU faculty and PCSIR scientists to be executed at both the campuses. Joint efforts will be made to solicit external funding for such projects.

While addressing the signing ceremony QAU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai said that at national level QAU is a top ranked university in research. He said last year University’s publications in international repute journals were the tune of about 600. “QAU and PCSIR should join hands together to convert research in to productivity which is imperative for the socio economic uplift of the Country” he added.

QAU Registrar Dr. Shafiq-ur-Rehman, dean Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Naveed-i-Rahat, and dean Biological Sciences Dr. Mir Ajab Khan also attended the signing ceremony.
