Celebration of Academic Excellence
To celebrate the academic excellence a ceremony was organized by the Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) here on Thursday. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has recently ranked QAU as top institution of Higher Education in the country judged on the basis of quality assurance, teaching quality, research, finance and facilities.
While addressing the ceremony Dr. Javed Ashraf, Vice Chancellor, QAU, lauded the academic contributions of the faculty including scholarly publications and the training of students. He said that QAU has consistently been ranked top university in the country by the HEC. In addition, according to the US News and World Report, QAU is the only academic institution in Pakistan among the top 500 universities in the world. However financial constraints are the main hurdle for providing state-of-the-art facilities to its students, staff and faculty.
He urged the minister to support QAU as it draw students from lower and middle income classes of the country. “Pour your resources in this institution of higher learning and you would get higher returns on it. We have the best faculty, brilliant brains, what we need is physical infrastructure” he added.
Minister of State for Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training Engr Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman congratulated the faculty, staff and students for securing the top position. He said that this success is an obvious demonstration of University’s dedication to research and academic excellence. The Minister assured that all infrastructure development needs of the university will be fulfilled on priority. A large number of faculty and staff attended the meeting.
