The Syndicate of Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad, in its 193rd meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, approved the University’s Budget for the Financial Year 2026–27 and considered a range of key administrative, academic, and institutional development matters.

The Syndicate approved the recommendations of the 110th Meeting of the Finance and Planning Committee, including the University’s Budget for 2026–27.

In a major institutional development, the Syndicate agreed in principle to establish a QAU Hospital in connection with already approved Medical College, with the hospital envisaged to be developed through a public-private partnership and/or with the support of philanthropists. The Syndicate further recommended the preparation of a comprehensive plan outlining the proposed project’s development model, infrastructure requirements, financing arrangements, and other necessary institutional and regulatory requirements.

The initiative is aimed at expanding the University’s academic and institutional capacity while creating opportunities for education, training, research, and healthcare services.

The Syndicate also recommended the affiliation of eligible public and private institutes with the University and authorized the University to process affiliation cases for approval by the Chancellor/President of Pakistan through the relevant line ministry.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan, Hon’ble Judge, Supreme Court of Pakistan; Mr. Hassan Saqlain, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training; Ms. Razia Ramzan Dossa, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training; Mr. Ghulam Nabi, Director General (Finance), Higher Education Commission (HEC); Dr. Ayesha Razzaque, Deputy Chief of Party, Higher Education System Strengthening Studies; Mr. Muneer Kamal, Former Chairman, National Bank of Pakistan; Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat, Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences; Dr. Muhammad Nadeem Mirza, Associate Professor, School of Politics and International Relations; and Dr. Shafiq-ur-Rehman, Registrar, Quaid-i-Azam University.
