Admission Notice for PhD Programme (Fall Semester-2026)

Applications from Pakistani/Foreign Nationals are invited for admission to PhD Programmes of the University in the following disciplines latest by 21/08/2026:

Faculty of Natural Sciences

 
Faculty of Social Sciences

Admission Requirements

The minimum CGPA for admission is 3.0 (out of 4.0 in the Semester System) or First Division (in the Annual System) in MPhil/MS/Equivalent degree from HEC recognized university.

1. In case of in-service candidates, the applicants are required to submit NOC from the head of institution at the time of submission of PhD admission form. Further, he/she is required to submit study leave notification(s) preferably for three years (as a whole or year wise) at the time of joining the Department, failing to submit the leave notification the admission of the student shall be cancelled. The Chairperson of the Department/ Institute/School/Centre will ensure the study leave and report to the AS&RB along with progress report.
2. The candidates applying for admission are required to submit a copy of synopsis. Admission will be given subject to the availability of the Supervisor in the field of research strictly according to HEC’s requirements.
   The applicants must provide official certificate showing percentage of marks obtained in MS/M.Phil programme

Course Work

1. Course work of 18 credit hours preferably in the first year is required to be completed and followed by a comprehensive examination for granting candidacy as PhD researcher.
2. Admission to PhD programme is made on a competitive basis. The minimum period for completion of PhD Programme is three years whereas maximum period is seven years.
3. The applicants must provide official certificate showing percentage of marks obtained in MSc/BS Hons/4-5 years programme

How To Apply

1. The applicants can apply through Online Application System at QAU website . The applicant is advised to deposit Rs. 2860/- per each discipline as application processing fee via online payment through KuickPay or 1-Bill. However, if a student wishes to apply for more than one program, they must pay an additional amount of Rs.2860/- for each additional discipline.
2. The payment receipt must be uploaded on the online Admission form along with other scanned requisite documents; otherwise application will not be entertained.

Subject Test/Interview

1. The admission to PhD programme shall be made on the basis of cumulative merit to be determined from previous academic record, University written subject test and interview.
2. Candidate has to pass:
   1. Test equivalent to GRE/HAT/GAT developed at the University, with the passing score of 70% OR
   2. Accept a test equivalent to GRE/HAT/GAT General, conducted by testing bodies accredited by HEC, with a passing score of 60%
3. The lists of pass applicants shall be displayed on the notice boards and at QAU website of the relevant Department/ Institute/ School/ Centre (DISC)
4. Applicants appearing in the Entry Test must bring original CNIC for identification.
5. If a test date is declared as holiday or for any reason, the test will be conducted on the next working day

On the recommendations of Admission Committee, Vice-Chancellor shall grant approval of the Admission Notice while considering time to time changes/modifications as deemed appropriate.
On the recommendation of the Chairperson/HOD concerned duly endorsed by the Dean of the Faculty concerned, Vice-Chancellor shall grant approval to change Area of study and eligibility criteria of a program
