Spring Plantation Organized by Department of Sociology, QAU

“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best time is now” Chinese Proverb

One day ‘Spring Plantation Activity’’ under the title of “Green Day” was organized by the students of Sociology Department, Quaid-i-Azam university, Islamabad. It was a brilliant initiative and practical manifestation by the faculty members and energetic students under the guidance of Dr. Muhammad Zaman Head of Sociology Department. The plantation activity was made possible with the collaboration of Pakistan Tobbaco Company and Horticulture Cell, QAU, Islamabad. The venue of plantation activity was selected in the vicinity of H-7 Hostel, QAU where approximately 1000 saplings were planted by the students. The species of the plants were included Kachnar, Pine, Sukhchain and Jaman.

QAU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Eatzaz Ahmed graced the occasion and formally inaugurated the Spring Plantation Activity 2014 by planting a sapling. The Vice Chancellor while addressing the students lauded the plantation derive and emphasized that it is the responsibility of everybody to plant a tree and deliver a message of making the environment green.

Later on Dr. Muhammad Zaman along with other faculty members and students participated in the plantation activity. The plantation activity remained a fruitful exercise for all the participants. It gave reflection of participatory role along with team work. All the participants came to know about the plantation method and the significance of planting trees. Besides, an eco-friendly message was delivered to all the people by the Sociology Department
