Walk organised to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

The Association for the Differently-abled Students at Quaid-i-Azam University organized a walk to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event aimed to emphasize the importance of inclusivity for differently-abled individuals, not only within educational institutions but across society as a whole. The walk witnessed enthusiastic participation from differently-abled students, their peers, and faculty members of the university. A notable presence of differently-abled students from the International Islamic University added to the event’s significance, showcasing solidarity among institutions in promoting inclusivity and understanding.

At the conclusion of the walk, the president of the society, Mr. Tahir Iqbal, addressed the attendees, shedding light on the motives behind organizing the event. He highlighted the association’s commitment to creating a more inclusive environment and thanked all participants for their support and encouragement. Prof. Dr. Farooq Ahmad Dar, the in-charge of the association, commended the cabinet members for their consistent efforts over the past year. He emphasized that their initiatives had not only been instrumental in securing rights for differently-abled students but also in raising awareness about their potential and fostering a shift in societal attitudes. Prominent faculty members, including Prof. Dr. Isthiaq Ali, Director, ORIC, Dr. Amanullah Khan, Dr. Misbah Umar, and Dr. Sarah Ali, also spoke on the occasion. They praised the association for its tireless efforts and reiterated the importance of collective responsibility in creating a truly inclusive society.

The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, symbolizing unity and celebration of progress toward inclusivity. The walk served as a powerful reminder of the need to embrace diversity and promote equal opportunities for all members of society.
