Three Days Training Workshop on Microteaching

In order to equip faculty members with pedagogical skills, a three day training program on Microteaching was held at Quaid-i-Azam University from May 22 – 24. Microteaching is a form of instructional training where small groups of colleagues/peers observe each other’s teaching and provide feedback. Participants present a 10 minute lecture each which is recorded and played back. The group engages in discussion based on observations and guided by the resource person with the goal of improving one another’s instructional abilities.

This workshop was a follow-up of the 17thMaster Trainer – Faculty Professional Development Program (MT-FPDP) of the Learning Innovation Division of the HEC. The workshop was organized by Dr.Rabaab Zahra,alumni of 17th MT-FPDP training, supported by fellow alumni, Ms.Umaima Kamran and Dr. Hassan Javed Chaudhry. The three alumni were also the resource persons of the workshop. The twenty five participants of the training were from different Departments of the Faculties of Biological Sciences, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences. During the workshop the participants strengthened theirteaching approach, by first identifying their personal strengths and areas for improvement. The exercises were designed to encourage an empathic understanding of students as learners and enhance understanding of a variety of effective teaching styles. The training also focused on improvingthe ability of the participants to provide and receive effective feedback.
