QAU Celebrated “My Clean Campus Day”

Almost 6000 Quaidians, faculty members and administration staff of QAU participated in a day long activity titled “My Clean Campus Day” in order to unite their voices for healthy and clean environment. The activity was organized and coordinated by the Vice Chancellor’s Office, QAU.

The participants were provided hand-gloves, collection bags, masks, drinking water and designated areas for cleaning. Students from 32 departments and 3 faculties cleaned their adjacent areas during this campaign.

Earlier an inaugural ceremony was held in the Earth Sciences Auditorium of the university in which students, deans of faculties, heads of different academic departments and administrative units participated. QAU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Eatzaz Ahmad, while addressing the orientation ceremony said that it is our moral duty to make our campus a better place to learn and work. He urged the students to get involve in excellent opportunity of eliminating litter from their campus. “A comprehensive mechanism has been evolved to ensure cleanliness and for disposing off the garbage on regular bases” he added. Dr. Eatzaz Ahmad acknowledged the enthusiasm of the energetic participants and urged them to set an example of cleanliness at the campus that may be followed by others as well.

Dr. Zeshan Sheikh, Assistant Prof. Department of Environmental Sciences, QAU briefed the audience through a detailed presentation on solid waste management at QAU, its current status and options for better management to make the university more cleaner.

At the end appreciation certificates and cash prizes were distributed among ten senior most sweepers and ten senior most gardeners and their respective heads of the units. A mural painting was also handed over to the chief librarian by two alumni of the university Dr. Faisal Shehzad of Geophysics and Mr. Sajjad Haider of Department of Anthropology. It was painted by renowned artist Bashir Haider from district Khushab.
