International Symposium Highlights Role of Nanobiotechnology in Cancer Therapeutics

The Quaid-i-Azam University hosted a one-day international symposium titled “Recent Advances in Cancer Therapeutics: Role of Nanobiotechnology” at the M.H. Qazi Auditorium. The event was organized by the Department of Zoology to highlight emerging trends in cancer treatment and the growing role of nanobiotechnology in modern medicine.

In his welcoming remarks Prof. Dr. Sajid Malik, Department of Zoology emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research and international academic exposure for students in the life sciences, encouraging them to engage with emerging scientific fields and global research trends.

The keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Nadeem Kizilbash, Associate Member at the NBU Center for Health Research, Faculty of Medicine & Applied Medical Sciences, Northern Border University, Saudi Arabia. In his presentation, Dr. Kizilbash shared valuable insights into the latest developments in cancer therapeutics, particularly the role of nanotechnology in targeted drug delivery, cancer diagnosis, and imaging. He highlighted how nanobiotechnology is opening new possibilities for more precise and personalized cancer treatments.

The session was followed by an interactive discussion with students, focusing on opportunities for higher education abroad. Dr. Kizilbash guided students about international scholarships, research prospects, and strategies for applying to universities overseas. Students actively participated in the discussion, asking thoughtful questions related to career planning, academic preparation, and research opportunities in biomedical and life sciences.

The symposium provided an excellent platform for academic exchange, knowledge sharing, and career guidance. Participants appreciated the opportunity to engage in advanced scientific discussions while also receiving practical advice on international academic pathways.

The closing ceremony was addressed by Dr. Irfan Zia Qureshi, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences, who presented the vote of thanks. He expressed gratitude to the international guest speaker, faculty members, and participants for their contributions, and commended the organizing team for successfully arranging the event.
