Dr. Ahmed Ijaz Malik, Assistant Professor at School of Politics and International Relations, Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) has been awarded Higher Educations Commission of Pakistan’s Outstanding Research Award for years 2015-16 for authoring the book US Foreign Policy and the Gulf Wars: Decision Making and International Relations. This book has been declared as the ‘Best Book’ published in the discipline of Social Sciences during 2015-16.
Dr. Malik’s book is the first work on theories of International Relations by a Pakistani author and develops an original theoretical approach by engaging in post-Cold War and post-9/11 academic discourses. In addition to contributions in philosophical and theoretical domains (qualitative) the book also presents a systematic and scientific quantitative research methodological approach for researchers to follow and conduct content, document and discourse analyses, which are influential contemporary methodological approaches in the discipline of International Relations. This book contributes to the leading theoretical traditions of International Relations such as Realism, Neoliberalism, Neoconservativism, Cosmopolitanism and Constructivism and presents a critical evaluation of US foreign policy in the Middle East in the post-Cold War era while persuasively supporting the theoretical arguments with empirical and factual data.
