Department of Pharmacy, QAU, Signs MoUs with Biolabs Limited, Zaidi Traders, and Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital
Memorandums of Understanding were signed between Quaid-i-Azam University’s Department of Pharmacy, Biolabs Limited, Zaidi Traders, and Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital to strengthen academia-industry collaboration. In this regard, a ceremony, presided over by Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar, Vice Chancellor, Quaid-i-Azam University, was held at the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat.
The Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Biological Sciences, QAU, and Biolabs Limited, Islamabad, presented a roadmap for joint commercial research, cooperation in student training areas, and promotion of common interests. Both institutions agreed to develop a framework for collaboration, aiming to promote technology transfer and joint commercial research projects between the Department of Pharmacy and Biolabs Limited in Islamabad.
In another MoU, the Department partnered with Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital is a registered clinical research unit under DRAP. This MoU between the two institutions will help in promoting clinical research, providing practical training to students, and facilitating scientific and research exchange related to pharmaceutical sciences and healthcare.
Under a separate MoU with Zaidi Traders, both institutions agreed on a collaborative framework for joint research in the areas of clinical research, product development, and commercialisation. Also, it will promote innovation and human resource development in the pharmaceutical and allied sectors. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar, appreciated the practical and effective steps taken by the faculty members of the Department of Pharmacy, research scholars, and heads of the other three institutions and the University administration.
Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences, Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat, Dean Faculty of Biological Sciences, Prof. Dr. Irfan Zia Qureshi, Director ORIC and Chairperson Department of Microbiology, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ishtiaq Ali, Director External Linkages, QAU, Dr. Salma Malik, senior faculty members, and administrative staff also attended the ceremony.
