Fifteen scholarships for the flood affectee students
Fifteen scholarships for the flood affectee students were announced during the annual get together organized by Quaid-i-Azam University Alumni Association Pakistan. This annual event was well attended by the graduates of Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad belonging to various walks of life. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Murtaza Noor Secretary General QAU Alumni Association highlighted the main achievements of the Alumni since its inception and informed the participants that the association has organized 4 annual dinners, Spring Gala; several get together and published two editions of directory of the members and it has also initiated various programme for the welfare of the present students of QAU Islamabad including need based scholarships and construction of social sciences seminar hall. He also informed that fifteen scholarships would be awarded to the students belonging to flood affected areas in three years in the disciplines of business education, international relations and economics. These scholarships have been donated by, one of the active alumni, Dr. Abdul Basit Chancellor Preston University Pakistan.
Mr. Sikandar Ahmed Rai President QAU Alumni Association said that Alumni of Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad are ambassadors at large inland as well as abroad and are playing an active role in developing goodwill for the university. They are also helping the university for establishing new programmes through their continuous support both materially and with ideas. He said QAU Alumni Association would continue to support the present students of its alma mater. He announced that QAU Alumni Association would help flood affectees with every mean. Sikandar Rai also assured Alumni’s cooperation to the administration of QAU Islamabad in carrying out different programmes for the benefit of its students.
Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai Vice Chancellor Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad who graced the occasion as Guest of Honor briefed about the different initiatives undertaken by university administration for faculty, institutional development and promotion of research culture He has also informed about the up gradation of Economics and International Relations departments as School of Economics and School of International Relations & Political Sciences, establishment of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Chair and department of linguistics. He appreciated the efforts of the alumni association in this regard. He also announced that QAU Islamabad would award Qauid-i-Azam Gold Medal and Alumni Achievement Award in collaboration with Alumni Association every year. He also urged the alumni members to come forward to help QAU in this critical state of economy.
