First batch of Political Science students completed their Master’s degree
At Quaid-i-Azam University, the School of Politics and International Relations (SIPR) conducted a ceremony to celebrate the passing out of its first batch of Political Science students since its establishment. At the ceremony, Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Chairperson of the School of Politics and International Relations expressed his immense pleasure and took pride in announcing that school’s first batch of graduate students have completed their Master’s degree in Political Science. He briefed the audience that the School initiated its Masters program in Political Science in Spring 2011. After completion of 60 credits hours, each graduate student has been awarded the Master’s degree in the Political Science discipline.
Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal congratulated the 36 students who have passed out in Fall 2012. Furthermore, he elaborated that SIPR as an academic school focuses on the traditional aspects of Political Science such as Political Thought, Comparative Politics, Evolution and Development of Pakistani Constitution etc. Apart from this, students are also introduced to the contemporary areas of Political Science such as International Politics, Environmental Politics, and Human Rights. More precisely, the primary focus of the program is to prepare a new generation of Pakistani Political Scientists who can analyze political systems and political behavior as well as to understand politics in its changing dynamic of globalization, scientific and technological evolution and revolution to ensure better understanding of state, government, and politics. Chairperson hoped that the school will establish as a distinctive status is social sciences in Pakistan, by expanding and diversifying its student and faculty composition.
QAU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai also congratulated the students and praised the SIPR’s faculty for their team effort to produce first batch of Political Scientists. Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the discipline of Political science has gained enormous attention among students wishing to pursue their careers in diversified public and private sector professional fields in Pakistan and abroad, including diplomatic service, intergovernmental organizations, and non-governmental organizations, as well as the increasingly vibrant electronic and print media. Vice-Chancellor also elaborated that the School of Politics and International Relations has already won due acknowledgement in Pakistan, South Asia and the world as a highly productive institution of higher learning in the discipline of International Relations, through an internationally acclaimed faculty.
