Turkish Cooperation: TIKA, Provided Two Computer Labs to QAU
Ambassador of Turkey to Pakistan Sadik Babur Girgin inaugurated a computer lab on the campus of Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU). Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has constructed and equipped two computer labs for male and female students residing in the hostels. A lab in girls’ hostel was operational since July, 2015. TIKA provided funds for establishment of labs including buildings, computers, furniture, air conditioners and electricity backup.
TIKA, as an official development assistance agency of Turkey, has been implementing projects and activities in the fields such as health, education, water and sanitation, agriculture in more than 150 countries. In 2010 the agency started its operations in Pakistan with the establishment of programme coordination office.
While addressing the inauguration ceremony the ambassador said, Turkey and Pakistan have enjoyed decades long tradition of friendship and brotherly relations. “We shall continue our support to Quaid-i-Azam University, one of the prestigious academic institutes of the country” he added. He also stressed the need to increase academic cooperation among higher education institutions of both countries.
Speaking on the occasion QAU Vice Chancellor Dr. Javed Ashraf thanked the generous donation from brotherly country and called it a unique symbol of Pak-Turk friendship. Representatives from TIKA, deans of the faculties, senior faculty members, staff and students attended the ceremony.
