Higher Education Delegation from Kazakhstan Visits Quaid-i-Azam University
A delegation comprising faculty members and senior officials from around 12 universities in Kazakhstan visited Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) to explore academic collaboration and strengthen institutional linkages.
The delegation was warmly received by QAU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar (S.I.), at the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat. A formal ceremony was held in their honor, presided over by the Vice Chancellor. Welcoming the guests, Dr. Salma Malik, Director, External Linkages, provided a comprehensive introduction to Quaid-i-Azam University. She highlighted key statistics related to the university’s faculties, academic programs, and recent achievements in national and international rankings.
While addressing the meeting Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar (S.I.), Vice Chancellor, QAU, emphasized the importance of international academic cooperation and expressed his appreciation for the delegation’s visit.
“The presence of academic leaders from Kazakhstan is a positive step toward deepening ties between our institutions. Quaid-i-Azam University is fully committed to fostering collaboration in education, teaching, and research at both individual and institutional levels,” he said. He further noted that such exchanges will contribute to stronger bilateral relations between Pakistan and Kazakhstan.
Prof. Dr. Muazzam A. Khan Khattak, Department of computer sciences briefed the audiences that Kazakhstan will also establish Al-Farabi research center at QAU, which will be formally inaugurated by President Kazakhstan on his visit to Pakistan in October.
The visit was aimed to enhance academic cooperation and identify new opportunities for joint research and educational initiatives. Discussions focused on building sustainable partnerships between universities and other academic institutions in both countries. Members of the Kazakhstani delegation also announced plans to organize an education fair titled “Study in Kazakhstan,” where Kazakhstani universities will showcase their academic programs, research capacities, and opportunities for prospective international students.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Irfan Zia Qureshi, Dean Faculty of Biological Sciences, as well as heads of various departments at QAU. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to expanding academic and research cooperation with Kazakhstani institutions.
