Expected cost: Rs. 84.000 Million Introduction: Media Studies as part of Mass Communication Science is an influential and expanding area of learning and research within the social sciences. New technologies in broadcasting, telecommunications, print and other industries have revolutionized the way we exchange information, entertain and educate and communicate to understand each other. Mass Media in Pakistan over the years has undergone a tremendous development phase, thus creating space for more newspapers and television channels and radio stations. The print media in Pakistan is almost totally private, while both the government and private sectors control electronic media. During the last decade, a large number of new both Urdu and English newspapers appeared on the horizon which created more readers as well as space for comparatively pluralistic thoughts. In the media war at national and international front, Pakistan needs a media that can cater to its national needs to counter negativism about the people and the country. The socially responsible media under ‘Social Responsibility Theory’ of media, our media can protect democracy and norms of social justice. Amid this background, the proposed Media Studies centre at the university can offer a number of media related subjects around media development as currently, the syllabus of Mass Communications and Journalism as various state run universities seemed obsolete and there is a need to come up with subjects that cater to the digitally active media in Pakistan. The Centre of Excellence for Media Studies would open up new avenues and spaces for research and research techniques and knowledge development and management on variety of subjects relating to media and communications. Pakistan lacks opportunities in media research. The Centre by building an interface with the media industry can create ample opportunities for its students and researchers and media can get research solutions from the Centre. Objectives:

Expected cost: Rs. 24.000 Million Introduction: Study of law enables citizens to understand their and other citizens’ rights, their responsibilities, states’ obligations and governments’ deliverance on the rights. The study of law distinguishes good from bad norms, nature of legal remedies amid conflicts of different nature. The legal education provides an opportunity for law graduates to practice law to help others seek justice. Legal education leads towards a legal practice and professional through which the practitioners earn their livelihood and help people seek justice and relief. It is most significant to give a serious thought to set up a quality legal education centre, school or department at the Quaid-e-Azam University to cater to the growing needs of a quality legal education to ensure justice for the people and prepare them to enter a fully democratic society. Being a state university with all logistics and brand, can take a lead in setting up any law schools, department and college. The University can attract leading jurists, lawyers and barristers in the federal capital as most of them practice in the Supreme Court of Pakistan. For quality legal degree level courses, a lot of students from whole of Pakistan would prefer any such facility at the QAU. Objectives:
