Concluding ceremony of the Art of Parenting

The National Institute of Psychology (NIP), in collaboration with the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW), Aga Khan Development Network and Government of Pakistan conducted a 5-day training of field coordinators as part of The Art of Parenting (Pilot Phase–II). held from February 10-14, 2025, focused on child development, family well-being, and adolescent support. Day 5 featured group presentations and conclusion ceremony; the presentations covering key topics like responsive caregiving, child safety, early learning, holistic health, family relationships, emotional support, resilience, and adolescent well-being. Action plans emphasized positive parenting, mental health awareness, digital literacy, and resilience-building initiatives. The concluding session commenced with the welcome note by Prof. Dr. Rubina Hanif, Director NIP. She emphasized the significance of nurturing parenting, focusing on holistic care and lifespan developmental milestones. She elaborated on the impact of attachment patterns and neurobiological outcomes, underscoring the benefits of nursing care, equity, and addressing individual shortcomings. Saleha Zakir Shah Director General of Monitoring & Evaluation at NCTA appreciated this initiative and emphasized that the trainees of the workshop hold the responsibility in shaping the parenting styles across nation. Dr. Shafiq-ur-Rehman, Registrar Quaid-i-Azam University acknowledged that the training was state of art, and it is very relevant to show obedience to the parents. Ms. Shabana Nawaz, Deputy Chief of the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) appreciated the initiatives aimed at shaping the parenting as the challenges have raised in this era due to digitalization and easy access to information. Mr. Qayyumm Ali Noorani, Head Health Department from the Aga Khan Foundation highlighted the critical issues faced by young children and adolescents in terms of self-harm and vulnerability which may limit their capabilities to express and flourish to their full potential. Chief Guest Senator Bushra Anjum Butt, a dedicated educator, academician, and politician and as a shared her thoughts and keen interest on the topic and acceptance of society to initiate change. Overall, the program provided practical strategies and interactive discussions to enhance parenting skills and adolescent well-being within communities. The workshop concluded with a certificate ceremony, recognizing participants’ contributions. National Commission on Status of Women, Allama Iqbal Open University, National Counter Terrorism Authority, Aga Khan Development Network, & Govt. of Pakistan collaboration made this initiative possible.
