World Environment Day Celebrated by Department of Microbiology

To celebrate the WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY on 5TH JUNE 2014, Department of Microbiology organized a poster competition and plantation campaign on the campus. Many students of the Faculty of Biological Sciences participated and expressed their views and suggestions through their creative and artistic abilities, regarding the current environmental issues. Ms. Joan Mahoney, Program Officer of Pakistan-U.S. S&T Cooperation from Washington DC, USA and the Dean Faculty of Biological Sciences were among the most respected honorable guests.Prof. Dr. Asghari Bano, Prof. Dr. Abdul Hameed and Dr. Riffat Naseem Malik were the judges for the poster competition. They all appreciated the efforts of students in preparing the posters. Later the guests and the students went to Wetland constructed at the D- Type colony to plant the fruit and ornamental trees to celebrate the day. All faculty members of Department of Microbiology and Dean FBS, our guest from US Academy of Science and students planted trees with great enthusiasm, visited the wetland and appreciated the efforts of the Department for working for Environment and community.
