Workshop on “Teaching and Research Skills” organized by the Department of Pharmacy

The Department of Pharmacy, QAU, in collaboration with the Learning Innovation Division, Higher Education Commission (HEC) organized a three day workshop at Qauid-i-Azam University. The Higher Education Commission aims to train teachers about their responsibilities and duties towards the teaching profession. HEC offers different training opportunities to the faculty members of universities including Faculty Professional Development Program (FPDP) and Training Effectiveness Program (TEF). These trainers are expected to conduct their training at workplace to produce professional teachers who have the theoretical knowledge, practical skills, competencies, and commitment to teach at high standards. Being the top ranked university of Pakistan, Quaid-i-Azam University provides numeral prospects to their faculty members to enhance their teaching and research skills.

The coordinator of the workshop, Dr. Fakhar-ud-Din has designed this workshop for the higher education teaching faculty to develop their research and professional skills. The patron of the workshop was Prof. Dr. Gul Majid Khan, Chairman, Department  of Pharmacy who is a leading resource person in this filed.

Faculty members from various departments including the Department of Pharmacy, Department of Animal Sciences, Department of Environmental Science, Department of Anthropology, Department of Biotechnology, Department of Bioinformatics, Department of Management Sciences and School of Politics and International Relation joined the workshop as participants. During three day various qualified and professional resource persons from different educational and professional institutes visited the QAU for training the young faculty members.

While addressing the inaugural ceremony of the workshop, the Vice Chancellor, QAU, Prof. Dr. Javed Ashraf highlighted the importance of the teachers training particularly the use of innovative ideas in teaching and research. He said that one of his priorities is to see the upgradation of the Department of Pharmacy to Faculty of Pharmacy in his tenure. Prof. Dr. Gul Majid highlighted the objectives of the workshop including the upgradation of the teaching & research skills for the young faculty members of QAU and allied institutions. He lauded the efforts of the organizers and said that workshop would be the continuation of the department’s vision in which at least one activity of international standard would be organized in every academic year. The Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Wiqar Ali Shah, Chairpersons and Faculty members of different departments attended the ceremony.
