The Department of Zoology, in collaboration with ORIC Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, successfully conducted a 2-Day Hands-on Workshop on Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) Data Analysis. The event was organized under the leadership of Dr. Kiran Afshan, Chairperson, Department of Zoology, and Dr. Sabika Firasat, Associate Professor of Zoology.

The workshop was led by expert trainer Dr. Naeem Mahmood Ashraf, who brought extensive experience in genomics and bioinformatics. Over the course of two intensive days, participants—including faculty members, PhD scholars, and MPhil students—received practical training on modern tools and techniques used in NGS data analysis.This workshop provided valuable hands-on experience, enhancing participants’ technical skills and understanding of core bioinformatics workflows. It also fostered critical thinking, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative approaches in the field of genomics research. Prof Dr. Irfan Zia Qureshi Dean FBS, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ishtiaq Ali, Director ORIC highlighted the importance of the event and appreciated the organizers.
