QAU inaugurates year long celebrations for its 50th year

Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) has inaugurated year long celebrations for 50th year of its establishment. A ceremony in this regard was held on the campus to formally announce the commencement of the Golden Jubilee Year of QAU.

Prof. Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) while addressing the ceremony congratulated the Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) for entering into 50th year of its formation. He said the university has produced generations of excellent scientists, civil servants, business men, academicians and journalists. He also extended his full support to QAU in its steps aiming to bring greater respect to the country. He said that currently HEC is focusing the quality and governance issues of the higher education institutions.

Dr. Javed Ashraf Vice Chancellor Quaid-i-Azam University said that June, 21, is a day of immense pride for QAU faculty, staff, students and alumni and also an occasion to renew collective commitment to the pursuit of excellence. He mentioned a number of steps that have been taken to raise the standard of research output of the university.

Dr. Asif Ali, President Academic Staff Association highlighted the role QAU faculty in the historical journey of the university. He stressed that autonomy of the higher education institutions and academic freedom is the way forward to achieve the goal of academic excellence. He also congratulated the faculty, staff and students for 50th year of the university.

Earlier Dr. Farhan Saif, chairman committee on 50 year of QAU briefed the audiences about historical background and achievements of the university. He said that 50th anniversary would be a year of events and activities to celebrate the milestones achieved in the past and highlight the strengths of the present. “It is an excellent opportunity and ideal time to commemorate overall achievements of the past 50 years” said Dr. Farhan. A large number faculty, staff, students and alumni attended the ceremony.
