4466 Graduates Conferred Degrees at QAU Convocation

4466 graduates including 211 PhD, 1461 M.Phil, 2314 M.Sc and 480 BS were conferred upon degrees in 8th Convocation of Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) here on Tuesday. The Pro-Chancellor of QAU, Federal Minister of Education and Professional Training, Shafqat Mehmood awarded the degrees to graduates.

While addressing the convocation The Federal Minister congratulated the graduates, teachers and parents. He said education is the best tool for the development in any state and these students are now a key resource in attaining this development.

“These students have shown through their academic brilliance that we are not lesser than any of the other developed nations. I am hopeful that they will contribute to the nation and will continue thriving in the field of knowledge” said the Minister. The federal Minister said the challenge of providing quality education can be addressed by focusing the curriculum revision and faculty development.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, Vice Chancellor, Quaid-i-Azam University highlighted the role Quaid-i-Azam University in human resource development of the country. He said, the University, since its inception, has produced 1746 Ph.D and 11163 M.Phil graduates. “The Training of M.Phil and PhD graduates within the country constitute a significant saving in foreign exchange. This can be judged from the fact that it costs more than 10-million rupees to get a PhD degree from a Foreign University, whereas we produce PhD of comparable quality at a low cost plus working on indigenous problems” said the Vice Chancellor.

Dr. Muhammad Ali said that QAU is focusing on enterprises development with emphasis on building relationships with industry and business. He said, our future focus will be on skill developments for producing employable graduates. He urged the government for providing support through HEC to complete infrastructure development projects.
