International Cultural Festival 2014 – Education & Cultural Connections for Peace

Festivity highlighted with presence of Ambassadors of various countries including Ambassador from Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Cuba, Palestine, Deputy Cultural Affairs Attaché -US Embassy, Deputy Cultural Counselor Egypt, Deputy Cultural Counselor Embassy of Iran along with stalls of French Cultural Centre and European Commission, made this grand event as golden in memories of twin cities. Students enthusiastically participated and learned about the cultural, traditions of the countries. They also took keen interest in Eras Mundus Scholarship and higher education opportunities in US.  The event was organised by The Diplomatic Insight in collaboration with Institute of Peace and Diplomacy (IPD) and Anthro Club, Department of Anthropology, Quaid-I-Azam University. The theme of the event was   “International Cultural Festival 2014- Education and Cultural Connections for Peace”. While firmly believing and standing by the United Nation’s principles of peace and promotion of Education for Youth, The Diplomatic Insight, IPD and Department of Anthropology, Quaid-I-Azam University organized this festival in order to promote understanding of diverse cultures of the world including Pakistan thus connecting young students of the University, having diverse cultural backgrounds themselves, with people from different nationalities and cultures. It was a joint effort to celebrate this festival and to share not only cultural and traditional understanding with Pakistani people especially youth but also various opportunities of Education that exists for them to explore avenues of highest learning.

Prof. Dr. Eatzaz Ahmad, Vice Chancellor QAU inaugurated the wonderful event and said that presence of representatives from across the globe give a strength and hope that greater opportunities are there to learn and do the dialogue to improve better connections for peace and development for our upcoming generations. Dr. Waheed Chaudhary, Head of the Department of Anthropology said that this event was meant to give opportunity to the youth to interact and come across with various cultures of the world and also learn from other nations.
