Interactive Session “Towards Improving Undergraduate Studies in Pakistan” with Chairman HEC

Speaking in an interactive session “Towards improving undergraduate studies in Pakistan” at Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU), Dr. Tariq Banuri, Chairman, Higher Education Commission said that HEC is working on the reforms to make 4-years BS program as the central and flagship program of the universities. He said the objective of the interactive session is to get valuable input from the stakeholders including students and teachers and to understand current problems of the BS program. He said the feedback would help to improve the final policy recommendation and reforms for current Higher Education System.

The Chairman, highlighted various aspects of the proposed reforms that would bring the higher education at a par with internationally recognized models. “The reforms would help us to produce knowledgeable, skillful and employable graduates contributing towards the economic development of the country” he added.

He reiterated that Higher Education Commission would help the universities in this transition phase and to cater the challenge of improving the quality of education. He said 4-years BS program should produce graduates with capacity to face the economic, social, political and psychological challenges in the life.  Earlier Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, Vice Chancellor, Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) in his address welcomed Dr. Tariq Banuri, Chairman HEC.  A large number of student, faculty and staff attended the session.
