Dr. Muhammad Zafar Awarded Gold Medal by Pakistan Academy of Sciences

Dr. Muhammad Zafar has been awarded Gold Medal by Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS) in the field of “Botany” for the year 2012 based on his outstanding research. The chief guest of the ceremony was Prof. Dr. Atta Ur Rehman, President Pakistan Academy of Sciences and Ex-Chairman Higher Education Commission. Dr. Muhammad Zafar has completed Ph.D. in 2011 in the field of Plant Systematics & Biodiversity from Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad, Pakistan. Presently he is serving in Faculty of Biological Sciences, QAU, Islamabad. His research work encompasses problematic medicinal plants, taxonomy and pharmacognosy, plant biodiversity, biodiesel technology, palynology and oil yielding plants. Dr. Muhammad Zafar has published 185 scientific papers in national and international journals of repute and author of 07 international books, out of these 85 papers are in ISI journals with impact factor. Currently Dr. Zafar is supervising 03 Ph.D. and 06 M.Phil research scholars in Department of Plant Sciences, Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad Pakistan. His research work is funded by HEC and URF-QAU.
